Assembling a compilation of is a difficult task, not only because they had an enormous number of hits, but also because singles didn't tell the full story; many of their album tracks were as important as the singles, if not more so. The double-album, commonly called, does the job surprisingly well, hitting most of the group's major early hits and adding important album tracks like 'You've Got to Hide Your Love Away,' 'Drive My Car,' 'Norwegian Wood,' and 'In My Life.'

Naturally, there are many great songs missing from the 26-track, and perhaps it would have made more sense to include the cuts on its companion volume,, yet captures the essence of ' pre- records.

But the burning question is, 'Why?' Any opinions on this? I know Apple wants to release something for the holiday season (I guess they're not satisfied with just releasing a bunch of other albums from their catologue), but there are so many other things they should do before this. And on DVD, anyone? Maybe a remastered Anthology set. Or even remastered.

After all of those things are released, then they should remaster Red and Blue. I mean, in my opinion, at least, they're just 2 very big compilation albums. For me it has an inner value. (1962-1966), was the first thing i heard from the boys. And i used to listen to it EVERY SINGLE DAY!! I remember that was a KCT, and original from Apple that my older brother had steal from a drunken man.

Was the only thing Beatle that i heard for years, then when i was about 19 years old y bought '20 Greatest Hits', wich was a revelation for me, because it included ',,,, and all my Beatle world expanded. But is always in my heart as the first i had. Years later i bought it on CD.

The 2009 Remasters were purchased by the hardcore and mid-level Beatle fans: the Red and Blue albums are kind of 'mop up' if you will to sell to the more casual fans who only like a few songs from each album. The Anthology series and BBC sessions?

I'd be quite surprised if they remaster those any time in the near future. They're by their own admission rough around the edges and I'm not sure remastering them would serve to enhance them a whole lot. BUT, I agree with you 100% that the Let it Be DVD is waaaaaay overdue for clean-up and remastering into 5.1.
